In 2016 on New Year’s Eve, Greater Faith Apostolic Church was renamed to “City of Faith Church” to reflect Pastor Gardner’s vision to restore broken cities and communities through the love of Christ Jesus. Now with a growing membership approaching 400, ‘God Is On The Move, Hallelujah!’ at City of Faith Church International. Plans are underway for 1200 seat expansion of the current campus, including an educational & program wing, a new worship center, 300 seat event hall, and a youth facility. Our History

City of Faith was founded in 1977 by Elder Harold C. Hines and wife Dorothy Hines as Faith Apostolic Church. The first church location was in a community center in Rose Hill Circle in Springfield, Tennessee. The first members were the founding family, Elder Hines, wife Dorothy, daughter Pamela, son Robert Gardner. The church endured many challenging times in the early years of ministry, but Elder Hines always taught the church to stand on faith, reminding us in the Word,


“We walk by faith and not by sight” (​ 1 Cor 5:7). God always answered prayer, and the church grew both in number and spirit. In 1985, with a membership over 100, the church was blessed to move into a brand new 450- seat sanctuary on 6.9 acres at 10th Avenue East and Goldcrest Drive. With a renewed vision, new edifice, and growing membership, the church was renamed to “Greater Faith” in 1986.

For the next 18 years, Elder Hines led the church through many peaks and valleys, and many souls were added to the body of Christ. Several ministries were birthed out of Greater Faith by the “sons and daughters” Elder Hines trained and mentored. These ministers and churches continue to thrive today, spreading the gospel around the world. Eventually, Elder Hines’ health began to fail, and in November 2004, after 27 years of pastoring, Elder Hines passed the mantle to his son, Robert Gardner, who is running with the vision to reach the lost and heal the hurting.


Elder Hines was called home to be with the Lord in 2007. For the next seven years, Sis. Hines continued to serve faithfully in the church under her son’s leadership. Her passion was the Sunday School and Drama ministry, where she was well known for her hard work and commitment to excellence. Sis. Hines’ health failed suddenly in December 2014. She went home to be with the Lord in March 2015. She and Elder Hines are “together again”.
